branding redesign

PROJECT MANDATE

Creation of a new logo and brand identity for a local independent teahouse and café called Steam.

A mockup of a storefront, featuring other illustrations related to the brand. An image of an inside view of the teahouse and cafe.

DESIGN THINKING

As I got to know the Steam Teahouse & Café, I discovered that they had recently undergone a change in ownership, expanded their offerings, and relocated to a fresh space in Kerrisdale, a charming neighbourhood situated in the heart of Vancouver, British Columbia.

To maintain their relationship with their previous Hastings-Sunrise customers, as well as to elevate their brand and expand from a small tea shop to a full-service café, they needed a new identity. With all this in mind, I decided to give their brand a new image: something more illustrative and vibrant, particularly targeting their younger demographic in the community!

DESIGN MAKING

The final logo for Steam is carefully crafted to represent the essence of the brand’s unique qualities. It features a hand-drawn and handwritten design, giving it a personal and authentic feel that aligns with their new identity. The main visual of the logo is a green tea cup below the word steam; both elements can be used individually or in combination for various packaging designs.

Overall, the new logo and brand identity represents their dedication to handmade quality and invite customers to enjoy the timeless pleasure of a well-brewed cup of tea or coffee!
